African Drumming For Beginners (M120.04)
Vacancies
Participants will learn to:
• understand rhythm basics;
• play West African rhythms on djembe drums;
• read and write drum scores;
• create, compose and improvise rhythms;
• find and/or organise more drumming experience.
No previous knowledge or experience required. Drummers with some experience wanting a refresher course, at beginner level, may enrol.
Experienced players will attend from time to time to assist the course leader.

| Student Materials: | A drum. Participants without a drum are welcome to enrol, but obtaining their own instrument early in the course is recommended. How to choose and buy a drum will be included in week 1. This helps participants choose an instrument which best suits their needs.
A chair: Armless chair is recommended. |
