World Music - A Journey Through Music Diversity (M116.06)
Vacancies
The course is intended as an introduction to the music of other cultures. The assumption is that people who participate will have a pre-existing enthusiasm for World music and may wish to share with others in the group. This is not however, a requirement. During 2025 some of the presentations done by course members included: ragtime, music from Brittany, a series on musicians from Senegal and the Gambia, the erhu and shamisen instruments. In addition, many members have been to a number of world music concerts NB none of us are musicologists – it's about enjoying the music.
