This course will cover 3,500 years of Mesopotamian history from the creation of the world's first true cities in ancient Sumer to the downfall of the Neo-Babylonian Empire in 539 BCE. It will explore the rise and fall of the city states and empires of the Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians and Babylonians. It will take a look at the lives of its people, including their values, politics, sciences, arts, and beliefs.
