We will traverse the length and breadth of three ancient lands that sit within the southern shadow of the Caucasus Mountains – Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. We will consider the history of these ex-Russian Vassal States and the social and political issues of the day, including their past and current relations with each other and Russia. We will go into the mountains, revel in the modern and visit the ancient sites that abound throughout the region. If we have time we will venture over the border and visit those Russian states that abut the northern part of the Caucasus Mountains.
