Exploring Great Ideas Through Art (AF142.01)

Art, particularly paintings, often explores complex and important ideas, such as the nature of morality, the concept of humanity, the processes of science and the depiction of the divine. This course explores these ideas and more as represented in art, including architecture, literature, music and dance, with a special emphasis on painting. These artistic representations will be discussed within their own historical and cultural contexts, with reference to contemporary concerns. No experience in art or history is required for attendance.
