Sessions are held via Zoom typically on Tuesdays at 12:30 pm and run from February to early June and from mid-July to November.

There are two registration options:

* Pre-register for all talks during the year and you will automatically be sent Zoom login details each week, i.e. there will not be any need to register on a weekly basis. (Note: Those who pre-registered in 2025 will automatically be transferred to the 2026 Forums.)
* Register on a weekly basis for the Forums which interest you. Registration will open in the week preceding the talk and the details are advertised with each Forum.

Putting the Debate Around Migration into Context — Global, Local, and What You Can Do

Professor Alan Gamlen, Director The Migration Hub, ANU
Lisa Button, CEO Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA)

Migration is one of the defining hot button issues of our time. More people than ever before live outside their birthplace — some by choice, many due to conflict, persecution, instability, or climate pressures.

Alan explores the real story behind global and Australian migration — Lisa highlights practical steps individuals and communities can take to make a positive difference.
Alan researches migration, development, and transnational politics at the ANU and has written extensively on "diaspora engagement policies," exploring why and how states build relationships with emigrants for economic, political, and cultural purposes.

Lisa has more than 15 years' experience in refugee law, policy, and programs and has lead CRSA since initiating its establishment in 2018.
