Melanesia, Micronesia & Polynesia: our Pacific Neighbours (SHE050.19)
Vacancies
The peoples in Oceania (sens. lat.) are probably the most diverse on earth in terms of culture and language, with around 2,000 ethnic groups and around 1,400 indigenous languages. They are now confronted with global politics, a technologically and sociologically rapidly changing world, increasing populations, and the likelihood of severe disruption due to rising sea levels. External speakers, specialists in their fields, will address most of the meetings. Some sessions may involve contributions from class members. No prior knowledge is required.
