Our enjoyment of classical music is enhanced by combining listening and learning. This term we will explore the music of Franz Schubert who was described by Franz Liszt- "as the most poetic composer who ever lived". His 600 odd songs took the art of German Lieder to a new level and these works together with his chamber, instrumental and orchestral works demonstrate an astonishing gift for melodic and harmonic invention. No special knowledge is required and you need bring only your enthusiasm for learning more about classical music.
