Discovering & Enjoying Classical Music (Term 2) - The 1930s to early 1950s (M029.31)
Vacancies
Our focus this term is on the leading composers active during the 1930s to 1950s period. At the turn of the century, classical music was characteristically late Romantic in style. However, many composers reacted to this style, together with the various cultural and political influences, with the effect that, as the decades progressed, styles became much more diverse than in previous periods. Our listening reflecting this diversity will include the music of composers such as Strauss, Stravinsky, Poulenc, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Britten and Copland.
