This course continues the reflections on key moments where Australian politics changed, shaping the subsequent era. Topics might include: decisions made in the 1890s that shaped our constitutional order; the conscription debates in 1916-17; the response to the Great Depression; the reshaping of non-Labor politics under Robert Menzies; the Labor split of the 1950s;the emergence of new parties from the 1970s onwards; and the political consequences of social and cultural change in the 21st century.
