We visit lands steeped in history and consider the religious, political and historical events that moulded the present day, while placing them in the geographic context of the region. We will visit numerous ancient sites and consider the origins, impact and outcomes of recent conflicts on both the people and the historical structures of the past, while considering recent events and how society is coping with several major disasters.
