Appreciation of Japanese Ceramics VIRTUAL COURSE. (AF135.01)

Vacancies

A million or more Australians visit Japan every year. One of the most rewarding souvenirs is a pot or other ceramic which, since it is made from clay, is literally a piece of this exciting country. The Japanese were among the very first people in the world to invent pottery. The profusely illustrated course will explore the huge variety of ceramics, including the historical origins, different regional styles, characteristic glazes and specialised functions. Special attention will be given to collecting the bowls used in the Tea Ceremony and other, smaller vessels used for drinking green tea and sake.
