Life in Australia (The 1960s) (AF133.02)
Vacancies
Life in Australia is a series of short films made in 1964-66 to attract migrants to Australia. Each film portrays a city or regional centre and conveys a strong sense of place. The films are a rich source of images and ideas about aspects of Australian life including family, relationships, work, education, leisure, sport, religion, food and fashion. The films also omit many salient elements of Australian life at the time. Along with other sources, and our own memories and stories, we will use the films to reflect on that era, and how life has changed in Australia since then.
