Energy Transition 2026: No Transition Without Transmission
The transition to distributed renewable energy sources is creating significant requirements for additional transmission.
In the fifth presentation of the Energy Transition 2026 series, Andrew Swinbank will provide an overview of:
- the National Electricity Market and its transmission network
- the differences between transmission and distribution networks
- constraints and existing transmission planning frameworks
- the role of renewable energy zones
- modern approaches to transmission planning
- key challenges in delivering transmission upgrades
- the transmission outlook for the next 5-10 years
After the presentation there will be a Q&A session, followed by light refreshments.
Andrew Swinbank works in the public sector on energy sector and transmission reform, and has previously worked on climate change policy. He holds a Masters degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability and an Economics degree.
