U3A ACT advertises such activities in good faith because they might be of interest to U3A members, but accepts no responsibility for their outcome. Do not send payment to U3A. Persons wishing to book or obtain further information should follow the instructions.

National Trust Tours

The National Trust (ACT) reserves a few spaces on each of their tours and events for U3A members. U3A members are entitled to book by ringing the National Trust office (6230 0533) during business hours. Leaflets giving all necessary information about each activity are posted to applicants prior to the event. If you wish to book, payment may be made by cash, cheque or credit card to the National Trust (ACT), PO Box 1144, Civic Square ACT 2608. Please note that, if paying in person, the office is located at Unit 3.09, Level 3, Griffin Centre, 20 Genge St, Canberra City. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 3.00pm. When booking, please ensure that you give your full name, address and home phone number, your dietary/mobility/pick-up requirements (if any), plus the names of others you may be booking for. Cheques should be made payable to National Trust (ACT), not to U3A! If paying by credit card (possible by phone) please state type of card, card number, expiry date and name of cardholder.

‘Bundanon’ and Jervis Bay - 2 Day Coach Tour

Thursday 31 August and Friday 1 September

A highlight of this trip will be a guided tour of Arthur Boyd’s homestead and studio on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, upstream of Nowra.

Stop at Fitzroy Falls to view the falls and for morning tea, on the way to ‘Bundanon’ where a BBQ sausage lunch will be held after the tour. In the afternoon, explore the area to the east of Nowra and the north of Jervis Bay, including Greenwell Point, Orient Point, Culburra and spectacular Point Perpendicular. Overnight stay in Nowra in two motels – the Parkhaven and the Marriott Park. Everyone will dine together at the Parkhaven, but breakfast arrangements will be separate.
On Friday, the morning will be spent touring the Jervis Bay Territory. Destinations include Wreck Bay, Murrays Beach, Greenpatch and an escorted visit to the historic Quarterdeck (central area) of the Royal Australian Naval College, HMAS Creswell. After lunch, overlooking the water, at the Huskisson Hotel, visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum at HMAS Albatross, before heading home via Nerriga and Tarago; stopping for refreshments at Tianjara Falls.

* Departure: Deakin at 7:45 am, with further pick-ups at Civic and Ainslie
* Return: Ainslie at approx 6:00 pm, followed by Civic and Deakin

Alluring Leura - 2 Day Coach Tour

Tuesday and Wednesday 3 - 4 October 2017

Led by Garth Setchell, this tour will visit gardens at Mount Tomah, Mount Wilson on the Tuesday; plus the Blackheath Rhododendron Garden and 6 gardens in Leura on the Wednesday.

Forward journey via Richmond, return via Wallacia and The Oaks, with overnight accommodation at Redleaf Resort, Blackheath. with overnight accommodation in the Blue Mountains.
