Introductory computer courses are run throughout the year at Cook, in 7 sessions of 2 ½ hours, based on demand. These cover the basics of using a personal computer, including how to create and store documents and will introduce Internet and e-mail usage. No previous experience is necessary but attendees must have access at home to a computer with Window (7, Vista or XP) and Microsoft Word or Works.

ABC:Absolute Beginners Course in Computing CS005.03

This course is for absolute beginners who are just starting out or those who never learnt the basics. Sessions are in the PCUG Training Centre with experienced trainers. Topics include learning your way around the computer, email and Internet basics. Each session is paced for beginners, with revision, take-home notes and homework. Using Microsoft Word 2007 CS014.03

We will learn how to use Microsoft Word 2007 to create, edit, format, save and print documents, insert tables and pictures, headers and footers and create indexes and tables of contents. You should be familiar with using Windows-based computers, Email and Internet (eg, you have completed the Introduction to Computers course).

Limit 4 - 12. Room rent plus photocopying costs.
Student Materials: You will need to have a copy of Microsoft Word 2007 installed on your home computer to complete homework. Also bring a USB flash drive to class.

Mac Absolute Beginners CS012.02

This course has two aims, i) to introduce absolute beginning users of Macs to the various parts and applications of the computer;ii) to help those who have had a Mac for a while and are still having difficulties in doing some basic procedures. The class will be in small groups for individual attention if necessary.

U3A Macintosh Chat Group (Basics) CS001.04

A group aimed at helping each other make the best use of our Macintosh desktop and laptop computers by getting together to share our computing knowledge and discuss our problems. This course is for people starting out with Macs and will look at 'getting the most out of your Mac', the built-in software, filing, maintenance and security.

This course is for people interested in broadening their knowledge of Macs and will look at activities such as wireless networks, music, photo processing, genealogy, making DVDs, scanning etc.
